About us/ sobre nosotras / sou nou/ معلومات عنا

In early 2023, I visited Mexico for the first time and while walking through the streets, I stumbled upon a quaint boutique skincare store where they offered me to test their coffee scrub over a beautiful marble sink. I fell in love immediately. Despite my promise to myself to not to splurge any further on the trip, I couldn't resist purchasing it. From using it religiously four times a week to cherishing every last bit, I found myself scraping the jar's remnants. When I reached the final chunk, I resolved to create my own version.

My coffee scrub would cater to my sensitive melanin skin tone while incorporating ingredients sourced from often-overlooked regions. This supports communities with their illustrious agricultural resources, giving them both credit and generating revenue stream through granting them direct business. If direct buying isn’t possible (which due to unfortunate circumstances in our often problematic world isn’t always possible), I'll use some of my proceeds to give back wherever and whenever I can. This is my mission for Café Catu Skin.

A portion of every single sale from your Café Catu order

will currently go towards one of two charities:

-Supporting a more self-sufficient-Haiti, with donations going towards H.O.W (Haitian Orphans Wish Organization) Timoun Kap Planté (TKP): Empowering Haitian Children Through Home Gardening to Combat Food Insecurity. Learn more here.

-Helping nourish Gaza’s children through P.C.R.F (Palestine Children’s Relief Fund). As challenges intensify in Gaza and across the West Bank, the importance of ensuring they receive humanitarian aid is fundamental. Learn more here.

-When sourcing our organic ingredients in bulk, we buy our coffee beans from The Palestinian Coffee Company, who gives 20% of their proceeds directly to P.C.R.F.

Each time you purchase from Café Catu skin, 100% of your $7 shipping cost will be donated to cover a week’s supply of high-nutrient peanut paste to a child in Haiti. These pastes help restore the health and well-being of children with acute malnutrition.

PS: I will be considering other charities, Gofundme’s, and humanitarian/ activism missions as Café Catu Skin slowly but surely evolves both as a product and business. If you ever would like to recommend us a resource for helping others (not solely restricted to Palestine and Haiti), please do send us a message. As Café Catu grows, so will the percentage of our proceeds that go towards donations. Subscribe to our mail letter and you will receive transparent updates as we go.

Thank you for your support x

A little about me—The founder :)

My name is Catherine Camargo, I’m named after a Catherine I never got to meet, the youngest of my Haitian grandmothers many siblings who died at a young age. Everyone called her Catu, hence, Café Catu. I am a proud big sister, an artist, curator, and poet (<—click to see more about this side of me), a dog mum to a mini dachshund puppy named Rabi. I am from Miami and grew up playing in the sand (with no sunscreen lol). I am beyond blessed in so many ways and appreciate your support in helping me provide a bit of good fortune to others through Café Catu Skin.

xoxoxoxoxo,

Catherine
